Impact analysis of agro-industrial and cash crop sector activities on children’s rights in the SAVA, Analanjirofo and Atsinanana regions of Madagascar

Client : UNICEF Madagascar

Mission:

Following the results of a national survey suggesting strong issues related to children’s rights, UNICEF Madagascar would like to count with have basic knowledge on priority impact areas related to children’s rights, in order to initiate support of the agro-industrial and cash crop sector and apply the Guiding Principles on Children’s Rights and Business.

Indeed, Madagascar’s Emergence Plan identifies the agro-industry and cash crop sector as one of the promising sectors for economic development, with the ambition “to move from a cash economy in transition to an economy of diversification and transformation”.

Insuco was therefore commissioned to implement a qualitative study in three dynamic regions in terms of cash crops and agro-industry, in order to produce data aimed at identifying and assessing the impacts of this sector on children’s rights.
