Description
It took a long time for this old American leather football to arrive but we did it ! To find the shape of the first ball of the National Football League used in 1920 in the United States. The purists will even say that before 1922 it was called the American Professional Football Association 😉
This American football is authentic, it has 4 panels of genuine buffalo leather sewn entirely by hand in our workshop. Unlike the replicas of our competitors, we make it in the pure American tradition with thick Buffalo leather 100% vegetable tanned (longer and more expensive) which gives it an unequalled quality! Even if Wilson’s official American footballs are still handmade in leather and made in the USA, their very “plastic” appearance is primarily a response to cost and efficiency on the field. Their research and development team have been optimising the flu of the old laced oval ball for decades.
Wilson has also created some great composite balls (Wilson GST composite or TDS composite for example) that replicate the grip of the leather ball as closely as possible for today’s games, but we’re sure that purists will appreciate the rugged look of our thick buffalo leather (100% buffalo) whether they’re playing with friends in the park or decorating their flats.
The buffalo leather for our American football is available in 2 grades to suit everyone’s needs.
- The standard version has a more vintage look, with a leather that gives small scratches or imperfections which we think gives an incredible charm in a decoration.
- An American football in a premium version with a “better finished” aspect, a buffalo leather still as textured but with less variation in colour and finally, a protective wax that we polish before shipping.
To enhance the product, we recommend one of our magnificent oak bases 100% made in France to present your American football.
Concerning the size, for the moment we are still working on adults but we can also make leather footballs for pee-wee (6-9 years old), junior (9-12 years old) or youth (12-14 years old).
